I'd not trust this sort of setup. Forget to pull the pin, and it can
hurt. Hard as I got whacked, I'd say it's quite possible to break bones.
Being as my thigh bones are nearly as hard as my head, I got away with
but a bruise. There's other places one could get hit that would -really-
hurt. And don't overlook the possibility of getting a shirt caught and
wrapped up. I got a shirt tangled in a lathe lead screw once, thank
heaven for foot brakes.
Folding handwheels are not exactly cheap, until you look at the cost of
what they can prevent.

Ever notice that the most vocal of safety advocates are either former
scofflaws that got lucky, or were in the vicinity of someone that
wasn't?
