There are so many different CAD/CAM software's out there to choose
from. Also you will need a G-Code interpreter.

For the G-Code interpreter, I purchased "CNC-Pro" and I am very happy
with it.

For the CAD software, I use Rhino. hppt://www.rhino3d.com It's price
is reasonable for what is does, but at $795 it's still too much for
the home user. If you know a student or teacher they can purchase it
for $195.

For the CAM software, I only know about the big boys. I support
CAD/CAM software at my company. I use "Master-Cam" to generate the
g-code from the model. I don't know anything about the home brewed CAM
software out there. My guess is the get what you pay for.
