RE: [CAD_CAM_EDM_DRO] GeckoDrives.. Can anyone Help?

They fall into 2 distinct classes with 2 versions in each class.
G201/G210 are microstepping stepper drivers
G320/G340 are step and direction driven servo drivers

The G201/G320 versions are directly driven by the computer. Give it 1 pulse
and it will move the motor 1 microstep or 1 encoder count (encoders are
driven in 4X mode so the movement is 1/4 of 1 line).

The G210/G340 are pulse multiplied versions. It has electronics that let you
select how many motor microsteps/encoder counts are moved with each single
pulse from the computer. The multiplication factor is user settable from 0
(no multiplication just like the G201/G320) to 10 X multiplication.

The best performance seems to be with the G320/G340 series and which model
is then based upon your computers ability to generate pulses and the number
of encoder counts per in and the feed rate you want. For a few extra $$ get
the G340 and be covered regardless.

The pricing on the G201 is based upon various factors that have nothing to
do with performance and all to do with honoring business commitments.
