Comparison of Cadd

Gentlemen,
My 18 year old son has vector cad/cam, but he wants to get a general purpose Cadd program for drawing machinery, not just parts. He is trying to decide primarily between the professional version of Turbo-cadd and Autocadd. Of course the TurboCadd salesman says that Turbocadd is better and more popular than Autocadd. Anyone care to comment, and steer a young fellow along his career as a machinist/fabricator/cnc guy?
I mentioned Design Cadd to him too, but I don't want this email to get too complicated.
