Well, this is not idiocy, if you do some complex procedure enough times,
ANYONE
will make a mistake eventually. The only way to avoid this is to have
some sort of
wiring harness that prevents the wrong things from being connected.
That requires
that the different models would have a somewhat different pinout so the
wrong connector
won't fit the wrong model.
