in one shop I worked in we cut a key shaped trophy about 5"x12" from
1/4" brass plate using a 1/4" endmill .050 depth of cut the plate was held
down with double sided tape to a piece of scrap board on a
CNC router table
we had no problems with it moving or shifting on us (only did one)
IIRC the tape was ordinary paper backed carpet tape (3M brand?)
I've used some double sided clear tape from the supermarket on
lighter material (PCBs) and found that it holds well enough
the hard part may be getting the pieces un-stuck without damage
