For what it's worth.
Relating to holding down thin material. I've cut thin (.065") sheet metal
to rounds on a lathe. I used super glue to hold these to a faced CR bar in
the lathe chuck. Once it was cut a little heat from a torch releases the
superglue.
For most of this discussion the double tape would work better. But the
superglue releases very easily with heat.
