I have made a vacuumm chuck for Damascening (engine turning) It held .060 sheets of aluminum pretty good. The box was made of wood.
As long as your parts have alot of surface area you can get alot of force.
But remember you will never get any more than 14.7 lb/in2 , no matter how hard you suck!!
