As it happens, I'm making a vacuum chuck right now. Have a job that
requires machining around the entire perimeter with corner radii.
I'll be drilling the thru holes first, and the vacuum chuck will have
two locating pins to insure proper location, but the vacuum is all that
will hold the parts down.
Job-wise, I'd really be better off just holding the parts down on the
pins and avoiding the end mill as it goes around the part, but I've
always wanted to try one, so I am.
When the job is finished, if I still have an extra or two, I'll drill
out the registration holes a bit and see if the vacuum alone will hold.
If it all works out, I'll post a couple pics.
