Hi all,
Being cheap and looking at some of the web stuff I came to some conclusions...not necessarily backed by research or experience:
.... that one could use concrete ( with rebar) as a bulk base... mount the precision cast (iron) components in filled epoxy (as
above) to get the alignment and vibration dampening and come out OK.

May try this some day...but have other things on the agenda first.
