Very good advice for most situations. However if a machine is built
or aquired for a specific project, then it has to be large enough for
the workpiece in question. In this type of special case, a large but
flimsy machine might be able to get the job done by taking very light
cuts.

Of course in such cases, it may really be wiser to farm out the large
parts to a commercial shop with machines that are both large and
rigid.
