The motor was stalling when I tried for the large rapid rates with anything
but the mode where I send a full step and the G210 generated the 10
microsteps. My theory is that I am having a problem finding an appropriate
acceleration setting as the pulses DeskWinNC needs to generate increases. In
the mode where I send a 1/2 step and the drive takes 5 microsteps I was
accelerating to higher speed before the stall then in the mode where I send
a step and the drive takes 2 microsteps. Worst of all was where I had to
send every single step. In all cases DeskWinNC seemed to be able to generate
the required pulse rate, just sometime it was to a stalled motor.
I have been in contact with Carl the developer of the DeskNC products and he
has given me some acceleration settings to give a try. I will admit that he
has used a range of values that are beyond what I considered. I will report
back with the results.
You are correct about the G210. It is always driving the motors at 10
microsteps to the full step and the difference is how many microsteps are
output per incoming pulse.
