Tom,
This has come up before. Check the CCED past msgs.
Light Machines Spectralight mill structure are/were made by Anocast,
which is a division of Anorad industries. The Casting material and
molds are VERY expensive! There was some "advertorial" coverage in
some of the machinist trade mags awhile back.
Greg Pettingill (Try a search on Cote, or Cote') worked with Dennis
Bohlke at super-tech and used aluminum powder in polyurethane for
some router kit parts which Super-tech still sells...
There was a great deal of discussion re: this on the Lathe 2000
egroup. The group became inactive, but the archive may still be
available on yahoo groups.
Ciba-Geigy has several urethane "casting resins" which you should
look into. Again, the main drawback is that the "engineered"
and "commercial" resins and resin/filler mixes are expensive. But
they DO work, and work well!
So if you are going to TLAR engineer or "create" from epoxy, etc.;
we'll all be interested in what you discover.
Hope this helps.

P.S. TLAR? That Looks About Right.
