I have to second the "give linux a chance" part. it really isn't that
different from windows. it is very stable, and very powerfull, and the KDE
desktop looks and feels very much like the windows GUI. the EMC BDI takes
care of most of the install problems (if not all), all you'd need to do is
configure the ini files and you'd be good to go! much easier then loading
into windows, fixing problems.. tinkering with it, watching it break and
then reloading your OS! ... ---Dave L.

Perhaps a little OT, but you may want to look at Unix/Linux again. I
worked with a NICE Unix box in Eng Dept at last shop I was at. You
can choose GUI, text, or use both in different windows -- and crash
in one application doesn't stop everything else. I'm trying to get a
box around to load an old version of RedHat (never could get a
separate machine around for it before), so I really can't tell you
about Linux yet.
