Running the various parts of EMC on a distributed system is very easy to do.
All the network and communication protocols are handled by low level
libraries and drivers. All you need to do is to decide which node (or
computer) runs each process and configure the emc.nml file to suit.
Making sure the network and any file sharing protocols are all working first.

For more info on this, I'd suggest reading the "Remote GUI" section of the
EMC Handbook for an introduction.

Please note: Reading the encoders on one node and controlling the motors on
another is not practical at present.
