I thought I would pitch in with some info on the Dolphin
Wire module.

Dolphin EDM supports 2 and 4 axes wire control.

The 4 axes can be programmed one of two ways :-

1) The user can define two separate contours and specify a
'Z' axis value which is the height between the top and
bottom of the wire.
With this method the user can also specify Synchronisation
Points i.e. designated points at the Bottom and Top contours
at which the Wire must arrive simultaneously.

2) The user can define a single Contour and apply Wire angle
commands to it at various positions on the contour.


After definition the Contours are post processed for the
Relevant machine tool, all major brands are supported :-

Agie, Charmille, Fanuc, Sodick, Eroda et al.

I'm sure in some cases one axis pair might be linear, while the other
pair would have an arc to compute. That is typically already being
done, if the controller can do helical interpolation with two additional
linear axis.

BobCad wire manuals? These are downloadable? The biggest problem when
I tried to learn BobCad a few years back was NO manuals! Do you have a
URL?
