Ron, You just hit on a GREAT idea: Steam powered abrasive waterjet!

Another alternative would be a long arm above driving a cylinder with weight suspended on it's end like a hand operated piston pump. Heavier cuts would just require more stuff hanging on it. Yeah, I know that would probably work. :-)
