lcdpublishing,

I am probably the one with the most posts on burning my Geckos since
I have gone through about 6 of them, but I think it is not the
Geckos fault that this has happened. I have no experience with
electronics and had to hire an installer who apparently did not do a
very good or complete job. I have had to limp along on my own
learning the hard way with a lot of help from this discussion group.
I am a do it yourselfer and should have hired a second person who
was experienced to fix me up but I wanted to learn for some other
projects I hope to do. I can't speak for the others who have had
problems, but this a complicated field with many pitfalls. The
causes have included incorrect motor wiring, short circuits due to
loose or improperly secured wiring, improper placement of a relay on
the powersupply that produced spikes and grounding problems. If I
get to the point that everything else is correct and a drive burns,
then I might change my tune, but I have always had confidence in the
Geckos due to what others in this group have said. Time will tell.
Going to servos, I am told would often be superior, but I have an
emotional and financial investment to make these steppers work...
