Guys,

There are a few things which might be causing this. Somehow, you seem to be
sending too much current through the drive. I think that if the problem was
on the power supply side, you'd blow the fuse, but I suspect that it would
be hard to damage the drive. Also, it's unlikely that both of you have
identicle motor problems.

I think that this points towards either of two things. First, if the motor
is somehow turning into a generator and back-feeding into the drive in a way
that it's not protected and causing a failure which looks like a short to
the input. This in turn causes the input side fuse to blow. The second
possiblity is something fluky with the grounding which is throwing things
out of wack. While the blowing of the fuse is a current actuated event, an
over-voltage somewhere may be what's responsible for blowing the device,
which in turn is causing the short allowing too much current to flow.

These are idle speculations by a guy who knows little. You might want to
ask Marris what he thinks before you spend a lot of time and effort "curing"
the wrong problem.

Hope the above helps you locate the issue. I'd be curious what you find
out.

Jeff

Mine was wired just like the schematics show with a very normal low tech
power supply and all wiring in flexible conduit .
I'm hoping that my motor was the problem .
Mauriss is coming out this month with "unkillable" drives that he calls
Vampires (note the connection ) and I will get one of them for this
motor as soon as his production drives come in..
This will solve this problem of the big 42 size motors killing the drives

I'm also running the windings in series ,wonder if that is a
contributing factor ??
