I bought 6 in an auction from GE/RCA some years ago. got a ton or
crap, a couple old Compac lunchbox portables with two 5-1/4 floppies
and 128k ram ! even a 300 baud modem. nice....


The plotters are all very similar, but not all the same make. It
looks like someone made a knockoff so some may have more memory or
some such.

The can take a GPIB cable, that is the ODD one of which we speak, and
there are also parallel and serial ports

Never could figure out how to talk to them and now pens are scarce.

A vinyl cutter is in the far distant future and would be eclipsed if I
could turn the boards into step and direction and run a PCB mill with
them.

Currently I pulled apart two units and trashed most of the stuff.
keeping the boards and servos and shafts and such.

As I recall, one servo feeds the paper to and fro while another runs
the pen sideways. there is a stepper ( I think) to spin the 6 pen
carosel and I forget how the pen lifts.

The motors are small, an inch long or so, with encoder.

I would like to be able to do something with them but have too many
project and too little time for a 'just-for-fun' project.
