Test page ?
I offered that checking for the 'simple' mechanical things. "Bug" is
supposed to be from an actual inset shorting on a PC board....
dust can invalidate a switch and so on.
But.... if you can print a test page, then you should safely assume
that things like paper out and pen open are working.
