Adding another one here I think!! It's been a while so I'm not
sure of the series.
Table was about 40" x 12" with 5 Tslots, "X" travel about 36",
"Y" about 30" and "Z" 6".
Bridgeport Works retro fit, used Anilam Crusader Control
which was a fully closed loop control, very good when it
worked but we blow a lot of Y axis driver cards (7 in 2 years)
which Bridgeport's engineers only resolved by replacing
the whole controller unit.
DC tooth belt drives with shaft encoders for speed and
linier encoders for position on the X and Y, direct shaft
drive on the Z using linier encoder for position and software
positional feedback for speed.
The knee was left manual and with no power assist and
manual lever lock.
X and Y manual handles refitted after the shafts and nuts
where changed. It was therefore possible to use the
machine as a manual machine by utilising the knee for
Z moves.
Last job it did before being sold on was re-machining
a BR Black 5 Steam Loco's expansion links for the
Seven Valley Railway
(one of the other lecturers was a volunteer driver for the SVR)
sure of the series.
