You were probably looking at the previous release:

The previous release tried to the micro-step chopping
using an A/D converter tied to the current sense
resistor. It didn't work worth a darn!!! I had quite
a bit of help from this list educating as to the folly
of using a slow A/D converter to do the micro-step
chopping.

If you want to read some USB code, go to the Microchip
web site:

and type "USB" into the search bar on the main page.
If you look through the resulting search results,
you'll find their example USB driver code labeled
as "Firmware Drivers". The code is written in
Hi-TEC C.

Bringing up a UART looks to be about 100 times easier
than bringing up a USB connection in terms of the
amount of code required. That is why I ultimately
dumped USB support; it looked like a major project
that could distract me for many many months.
