To anyone who may fancy the challenge they should check out the HP's
because the print head drive electronics all seems to be on the board
on the back of the print head, I'm not sure what the printer sends to
this board via the ribbon cable but it may well be the multiplexed
print signals, some sniffing would probably find out.

For me the real issue with this sort of approach is the interface to
the PC, raster images contain a lot of data and you could end up with
a very slow printer indeed.
