Hi Graham,
Binary or text? Fogassa has a file he offered to send, I'll take a look.
The fill algorithm should alternate between several directions, say all
the 45 degree points. And then (or before) a closed outline can be done.
We have a SL printer at work; Dimension, I think it is. It uses
extruded ABS. Fun to watch! I'm trying to remember, but I think it
just does simple rectangular moves. I'll have to watch it some more!
The DXF files would be interesting. That is a format I've worked with
before (at least a simple one), and would make an easy conversion to
whatever one wanted.
Nesting could be a very interesting problem! I was asked about such a
problem at one time, but didn't an idea where to start (and was busy
with other projects at the time).
I suppose one could just take squares of a thin material, such as a
plastic, wood or metal, and mill each one after gluing it down. Has any
one experimented with a process like this? Might be a little more wast
full of stock, but it would be something we could certainly do.
