I guess that would depend on the CAM. All the CAM products I've used do use the 'drawing' per say, but rather the Model. I've yet to see a CAM that imports a solid Model [or in the case of an integrated CAM like SolidCAM or HSMworks] to ever see or use a dimension [unless for linking a property]. It isn't really even a concideration.
I will however add that while a paperless workflow is a great thing to attain to, in my experiance it is a rare occurance for prismatic parts [injection molds etc are a different matter]. To properly machine a part and deliver a finished product, it must go through a Q/C process at some point [at least on initial production run parts and usually on spot checked parts there-after] and this does still require a drawing [either paper or electronically viewable] to qualify that the part is w/in tolerance.
