I think this is why the Rutex drives use a split supply. It is a bit
annoying though having to have a separate supply.

Interesting. The Rutex drives are rated at 100V and they use IRF540N's.
Basically the same except for higher current. The instructions do say
that the motor supply voltage should never exceed 100V though.

So does that 80% derating mean that the Gecko's are safe to run with a no
load power supply voltage of 80V?
