You miss the point, Tim. In a retrofit situation, customers must find
and buy a suitable transformer for the power supply. I suspect that for
a few $$ more Gecko could build a driver that runs on 90V instead of 80V
and thus the users could utilize commonly available transformers rather
than be limited to custom, expensive transformers. The issue isn't
servo speed or power, but the fit of the driver to the rest of the
design.

Furthermore, some of us are using Geckos for FAST cnc systems in
production environments. For example, we've got a jig wherein the parts
are 20" apart. At 120 IPM, it will take 10 seconds every time we have to
traverse the table. Our servo system is rated at 300+ IPM. Motors
capable of driving such a system need all the power they can get ie 90V
systems.
