If anyone can remember back a month or so Mariss posted about the cause
of failure for returned drives. The number one reason by a large margin
was over voltage. He also told about the sensor circuit built into every
Gecko that will positively identify a drive that has been exposed to
excessive voltage. I don't think it would be a good idea to try and push
Gecko's very generous warrantee policy by ignoring the published
specifications.
