Standard for a manufacturer.
It is my opinion from my observations that he is much more interested
in FINDING the reasons for a problem than to play the 'you must have
done something, it left here perfect' or the 'our records show it
shipped at 2:58PM and we didn't get it till 4:00, so your warrantee
expired' game of some manufacturers. To do that it seems that he
wants you to return your damaged drives so he can figure out what
happened.
Also, if you have been on the list (or searched the archives) you
will realize that he is the GURU of drivers.
All engineering is done for some reasons. too much voltage in a
drive results in less performance in some way, too many amps in
another. the 99.9% of the use falls into the ranges he offers. If
you need more power, steppers stop delivering at some point and
servo's start to deliver.
As posted yesterday, making a 200 amp drive is not hard to do, but
you probably can't afford the cost, or you would not pay the cost.
So the market does drive the products at some point.
Read Mariss's posts on WHY he chose the limits he did. it was not
for convenience on his part, it was engineered with well thought out
reasons, and he has posted them for us more than once.
I'm not coming to his defense as he can do that better than most, but
this thread can go off into next week with the questions. Questions
that have already been hashed out.
