Kim,
On this group when you ask a question and someone answers you are
talking to the monkeys.
When you ask Mariss a question about Gecko drives you are talking to
the organ grinder.

Mariss is the owner of Geckodrives and I must say that without the
input he's made to this group the hobby and small shop users would be
out on a limb.
I did ask the question a while ago about highr drives but I get the
impression at over what they are designed for you get into a lot of
expanded problems.
One frequently mentioned is cost and another one not often mentioned
is liability which is BIG in the US.
As I understand it anything under 80v is classed as low voltage, over
80v you are running into higher voltages and liability issues.
If you get to the 140 v area there would be nothing to stop some bozo
from rectifing the 110 incoming line voltage to get the required 140v
DC with no protection at all from a supply voltage of 110v and about
60 million amps, should be able to get a decent speed though. <BG>

Rutex OTHO aren't incorperated in the US and have less of a liabality
issue than a US based company. Also as only the US have this 110 line
supply other countries such as the host Australian based company,
Europe and the UK have to transform down from 240v to get the
required input as all of these countries all operate on the same
single supply voltage of 240 v
