  If your machine is like the FireBall G90 I have, then a solid coupling may generally work satisfactorily.  However, if your machine is tight and ridgid, then a more forgiving coupling might be a better choice.  Check out at DumpsterCNC (http://www.dumpstercnc.com/lexible).  I used them on my FireBall when I changed to higher precision lead screws and anti-backlash lead nuts.
