in my opinion the best (an cheapest heater to run) is hot water,I explain myself:
when you are constructing your workshop ,before you pour the concrete
lay 1/2 copper pipes along side at a distance of about 2 ft for the length of the
garage ,all the pipes should be connected between them , pour the concrete to
cover the pipes about 2" on top and when you finish the workshop hook them
up to the house hot water supply , you could also use a solar water heater and
whatever is your fuel for the household hot water for boost ,as the heat travels
up you would have the most warm workshop in the neighborhood , don't forget
that if the floor is warm you are warm as well. This method is used in the houses
in Europe.
