No, odor doesn't necessarily indicate toxicity, but to say that

Formaldyhyde is toxic. Don't breathe its vapors. Most burning
plastics are toxic. We had a local fire at a plastics recycler
some weeks ago that send a couple thousand people to the
hospital. Some of the people were actually genuine, others went
to establish a precident for a law suit.
