I suspect those pumps are a lot more than you need and may be worth quit a
bit. You might be able to resell them and get enough $ for your whole system
( if you can find the right buyer)
A shop vac will probably hold the parts. A good way to be to use a piece of
visqeen polyethylene film over the unused portion of the table, cut a hole
where the part goes and seal the edges with Dum Dum ( window caulking putty
strips) . Systems like this are commonly used to vacuum bag laminate
composite systems. these will have a bag over the part which you don't want
but the principle is the same. You want the type shop vac that pulls extra
air over the motor for cooling . Cheap units that pull the motor only with
the pumped air will burn out quickly in this type service. You want a lot
of holes at least equal in total area to the pump inlet size area. more is
better.
