MDF is medium density fibre board. There is some called marine MDF which is
sealed in some way against water. There have been a lot of questions as to
whether or not it's carcinogenic, and so safe or not safe for school to use.
In school we're not aloud to put it on the wall sanders or disc sanders
because it gets so much of the dust airborne. We're aloud to work it by hand
but the dust has to be kept minimal. I think so long as you don't eat it
you'll be fine (Poor Sam still isn't out the hospital after making that
mistake).
