Tim,
I see this thread as going in the direction of trying to figure out
how we can continue to build CNC controls on commodity personal
computer hardware - ie, how do we cope with operating system
protection that makes it hard to talk to the hardware, the vanishing
ISA slot and parallel port, etc It shure beats talking about the
alternative - proprietary control boxes as used on high-end cnc
machines that are hard to maintain and way out of the price range of
hobbyists.
