I was running The Animal for a few hours today. The Anilam has a red
hold button right by the green go button. You can press the hold button
and program execution stops right there until you press the green
button. This can be very handy.

I used it to pause/halt the CNC program while I turned off the spindle
motor and cleared a long stringer chip off the milling cutter from
plunging it to far with out pecking - the chip was whipping coolant all
over the place. With the hold button, it wasn't a big deal. With out
it things would have been a big mess. The program that was running
takes most of an hour to execute - it had 45 minutes to go and that
chip-stringer would have whipped things to a froth before it let go!

I can't imagine running a cnc machine that didn't have a hold button.

It also has the big red panic button that aborts the whole process - the
hold button eliminates some significant problems with out aborting the
whole program.

Two hugely important features from my point of view.
