Yes abandonware is quite a shame. Good thing about having the
sourcecode to an application is you never have to feel like you've
been left behind. I've built code that's over 20 years old and it
has run fine on my current system. Linked to the latest libraries
running on up to date hardware. Maybe the programs themselves don't
change but the supporting operating system should move on I feel.

These are about the only "options" I'm giving up that I can think of.
That, and their new subscription model of software distribution.

I must confess that I am at a loss as to exactly what you mean when
you say "options" please elaborate, and enlighten me. As far as I
know Linux is quite a viable platform for CAD and CAM for a hobbiest
such as myself. With a limited budget. I like to do it myself anyways.
That, and I must admit that I prefer the UNIX style environment over
well, whatever it is that Microsoft is.

I suppose that'd be a ripoff of CP/M, VMS, and MAC today for it's
various components, and interfaces.
