What that is probably refering to is fiberglass dust. You probably
are aware of the big hulabaloo regarding asbestos dust and the lung
cancer cases attributed to asbestos. Some have tried to draw a
corrolary to fiberglass.

In my opinion this does not hold water. Asbestos paricles are sub
micron in size while fiberglass particles are much, much larger. They
do have the ability to irritate the skin. I know because I am one of
those people that having crawled thru an attic space filled with
fiberglass will itch for three days afterwards.

To my knowledge, there has never been an established relationship
between fiberglass exposure and any nasty, chronic illness like
cancer.

Still, you don't want to breathe the stuff on a regular basis. Use a
paper filter mask if you are around it.
