Hi Dan, I did a 2 axis m/d conversion three years ago using select fit ball
screws [Nook Ind.] and servo motors running on Turbo Cnc.

There really wasn't any part of the conversion that is beyond some one with
the skills to use a m/d.

As for buying a retro kit. Take your time and don't just consider price as
your factor. After sales service/contact is some thing worth considering. As
my recent problems chronicled on this list can attest to. Though my hardware
was, IMHO, an excellent build and price. The person that sold the kit was
helpful during the purchase and install but, it appears as though he is no
longer in business leaving me with no follow up resource.
So, there are many online sources for build kits ready to install with bells
and whistles controlling the over all prices.
