I would not recommend running the Z off of the micro feed.
It is well worth hooking a ball screw to the quill.
I think the micro feed would have to much slop in it to do a good
job.
I used a ball screw for my Z and it works great.
I did this on a JET mill/drill which is about the same as all the
rest.
