To put it mildly, I did my own thing!
I measured, and made my own ball nut holders and then actually
measured the length of the axis I wanted and cadded all the parts up
and started making scrap metal.

I would be more than happy to share my "working drawing" with you and
share some of the things that I would do differently if I were to do
it over again (mainly in my X axis mount). For the Z axis, I drove
the micro feed instead of some of the more exotic systems that are
out there, but all in all I am happy with the system I have. In case
you are interested, this is a servo based system but just as easily
could be done with steppers.
