In the UK it is possible to get three phase supplies installed - At a price.
But what most people don't realise, is that the electricity boards regard most
of our 'toys' as industrial machines. Their view is - If it's an industrial
machine, you need a commercial supply contract. If you only have a domestic
contract, we can pull the plug etc etc...

It is highly unlikely that that the electricity board would disconnect a
hobbiest, but if you read the very fine print, there are restrictions as to
what you can plug into the domestic mains.
