I'm in a rural area zoned for general Ag which allows all sorts of things.
Feed to the house is 300 MCM Aluminum 220 V 1 ph. with neutral. Run is about 100 m. Service entrance is the standard 200 A.

Urban areas (residential) may have 3 ph available (240). but there can be a demand meter. Ugh. Out in this area all power is single
phase. Distribution is either 7.2 KV or 12 KV.

Where I grew up we had single phase 240 V.. with 50 KVA on the pole.
With everything (electric heat etc. ) we could actually draw the 50 KVA.
Electricity was also between 3 and 5 mil/Kwh. (Long time ago. ).
