there is a setting in the HAAS control to emulate a FANUC (a subset anyway)
it can also handle another one but I cant remember it right offhand (Yasnac??)

the G41/G42 must be 'in effect' BEFORE you call G02/G03
otherwise (if the machine would allow it) you would be moving the
center of the tool to the edge of the circle (gouge)
then the control would have to 'make up' for the cutter radius
as it tried to cut the arc (probably all in the starting quadrant)
at best you would end up with a cam lobe on most of a circle

its not a limit of the control but of the RS274 language itself
the way I learned it at least
