Re: 2 Fried G210's in a single day :-(

I was out of this list for quite a long time. I also have a few
Geckos fried, and I'm very sorry I got another one a couple of days
ago.

After the first one, I got an excellent phone support from Mariss
and I rebuilt the power supply following his guidelines.
Unfortunately I fried another G201 immediately after checking the
wirings and connecting teh fuses (I have fuses on each single axis
wiring). Due to the high capacity, I had a spike on the fuse and the
driver died.
Now, after a major reworking, I had the machine running again, it
performed nicely for a couple of days and I brought it to my
workshop.
I think I had a less than excellent contact on a connector (from the
main box to the X motor). I know that the connector was in, but for
some reasons the locking ring didn't screw all the way. I had to
demonstrate a little machining to a curious friend, so I switched on
and ... another G201 fried up.
OK, it was my fault as I should not go with that plugged-but-not-
locked connector, but I think they're a bit too fragile and
unprotected for my taste.

From my sport time I have a remind, a funny T-shirt picturing a
couple of figures (spermatozoons toonies)with a chute on their
back , looking down an airplane door and saying:
"rememember when jumping was dangerous and sex was safe ?"
....
:-)))

I really love those little Geckos, but now they scare me dead.
Seriously, I would like to see a bit more protection on them.
