The tuning software is one reason I like them over the Geckos,
although it may be possible to tune within Mach2...don't know.
I like the higher volatage rating (although I am told it is the same
component rating as Gecko 320/340s...but with higher advertised
voltage) I am tempted to get the 200v/40A ones in case I replace the
motors with higher volatege ones...and to get them up to their 130v
rating if I change the belt ratio. Still on the fence about that one.
Plus, since I will be using at least a 1000 count encoder, the Rutex
has a higher fault count than the Gecko ~ which may or may not be a
problem. The 2000 series (still in testing and not ready yet
according to Rutex) has an adjustable fault count depending on your
application.
The Rutex also makes for a cleaner install because the drives snap
right into their motherboard, and the relay board does as well. Less
wires...less confusion...one big heat sink for all of the drives.
I guess it is just a matter of prefference ~ vanilla or chocolate.
They both get the job done.
