We rarely use that "finder", the scope cold boots to a known mechanical
position and once the time is connected, you go straight away to your
object. No calibration or setup is needed, the objects is always dead center
in the field of view. The total allsky error 9.6 arcseconds which I believe
is less than the disk of Venus.

Yes it does at times but I think that for the hobby shop man it's what they
have found that works for them, is not too expensive and is reliable, so I'm
told

I was lucky and got myself a CNC Mill and Lathe virtually as new along with
industrial CNC component design and programming software on the cheap when
my then employer no longer require them.

Just an aside but your Finder looks bigger than my main scope (6"f8).
