If the noise on the line had the signls missing steps, it would not
matter as there would be deeper problems.

If the encoder signals were being lost, again deep problems, but
nothing could resolve that.

I think we are dancing angels on the head of a pin.

Heck, a properly desinged stepper system does not lose steps, so there
would not be any need to close the loop.

I would submit that if the stepper machines were propely desinged, we
would not be talking about the need for feedback.
